Loan Periods
Items in the Libraries' collections, except those designated as reference materials and current periodicals, are available for loan. Loan periods vary based on the type of material.

• 1 WEEK:  Magazines, Single/Double Videos and DVDs, Christmas CDs, Lyric Opera
• 2 WEEKS: New Adult Books, CDs, Video/DVD sets of 3 or more, Digital Books
• 3 WEEKS: Everything else:  including
  • Book/Cassette Kits
  • Books
  • Books on CD
  • Books on Tape
  • Encyclopedias
  • Holiday Books
  • Large Type Books
  • Merit Badge Books
  • Paperbacks
  • Young Adult Books

Vacation Loans
The normal loan period for any item may be doubled upon the request of a patron for all materials except for those materials that have been reserved for use by another patron.

Limits on Loan Periods and Number of Items Borrowed
In general, there are no limits on the number of items that may be checked out by a patron at one time. The loan period or number of items checked out at one time may be reduced on a class of materials at the discretion of a supervising librarian due to seasonal demand or the inclusion of those materials as part of a class assignment.

Returning Materials
All items may be returned to Nichols Library, Naper Boulevard Library or 95th Street Library, in person or through a book-drop.
