health resources

Naperville Public Library has extensive resources for your health concerns in various formats: online databases, available 24/7; links to selected, authoritative web sites; and standard works on our reference shelves. Among our many circulating items are authoritative publications from the Mayo Clinic, the American Dietetic Association, and the American Diabetes Association.

Online Database subscriptions
NPL subscribes to a number of databases that provide updated, timely information on health related topics.
  • Health and Wellness Resource Center features news articles, scientific papers, assessment tools, and even videos that you can watch about a medical procedure! A new feature is its Alternative Medicine module that covers non traditional medicine.
  • Reference USA has U.S. Healthcare, which lists physicians and health care providers.
  • Gale Virtual Reference Library provides basic facts about health, physiology and diseases.
  • Marshall Cavendish Digital is an excellent source for clear illustrations of human anatomy under its section on Health.
  • FirstSearch provides access to MEDLINE/PubMed in a familiar search format. Abstracts for cutting edge research papers worldwide may be downloaded.
