Summary: Katie's best friend Cynthia was immediately tossed aside for the possibility of new friends. Later, Katie realizes her mistake as the new friends reveal their colors. This lesson about true friendship, and what it really means to have someone trust you, could teach us all.


Title: Plum Lucky
Author: Evanovich, Janet
Summary: Plum Lucky is a short Stephanie Plum book which is a great light read for an afternoon on the beach or in the backyard. Perfectly fun and amusing for summer reading.


Title: Learning to Bow: An American teacher in a Japanese school
Author: Feiler, Bruce S.
Summary: Through his experiences teaching English in a Japanese school, Feiler reveals many aspects of Japanese culture. The portrait painted of Japanese education and culture are seventeen-years old, but still fascinating and help explain cultural norms.


Title: Loving Frank: A Novel
Author: Horan, Nancy
Summary: I thoroughly enjoyed learning about Frank Lloyd Wright's personal life and the woman, Martha Borthwick Cheney, who gave up everything to be with him. Although this is a work of fiction, it really brings the characters live.


Title: Einstein: His life and universe
Author: Isaacson, Walter
Summary: Einstein's success came from his imagination and creativity, from questioning conventional wisdom, from challenging authority, and from marveling at mysteries. He embraced a morality and politics based on respect for free minds, free spirits, and free individuals. He once said, Blind respect for authority is the greatest enemy of truth. Isaccson has written a captivating biography that will teach you more about this great man.

Author: Kingsolver, Barbara
Summary: Kingsolver has penned a wonderful eye-opener which shows the value of eating locally . She recounts how she put this practice to the test for one whole year -- and she didn't starve!


Title: Four Girls from Berlin: A true story of a friendship that defied the Holocaust
Author: Meyerhoff, Marianne
Summary: An intensely personal and moving account of how three Christian girls and their Jewish girlfriend rejected the madness which was Nazi Germany.


Title: 1984
Author: Orwell, George
Summary: Even 59 years after its publication, 1984 is still a classic that can be reread for new meaning. The year 1984 may have come and gone, but the book 1984 is timeless. It is a must read, at least once in your life time.


Title: Done Gone Wrong
Author: Pickens, Cathy
Summary: The entire Avery Andrews series, which started with Southern Fried, is excellent. This second installment is about a lawyer and a suspicious medical lawsuit. Avery is sweet and lovable, but she's a shark in the courtroom.


Title: The Midnight Hour
Author: Robards, Karen
Summary: Robards has written a great mystery with a surprise ending. A wonderful love story also grows along with the mystery. I really enjoyed the way Rachel pops into this story and its ending!
