Author: Jaffrey, Madhur
Summary: Jaffrey has published a number of cookbooks, and in this memoir she describes her food influences as she was growing up in India.


Title: Takedown
Author: Thor, Brad
Summary: Brad Thor’s thriller’s are very topical and realistically written. By starting at the beginning of the series you get to see the main character’s development and how past events impact his decisions and behaviors.


Title: The Bean Trees
Author: Kingsolver, Barbara
Summary: This beautifully written book is about a young woman who raises a baby girl she found abandoned in her car, and the “family” she collects along the way.


Title: Water for Elephants
Author: Gruen, Sara
Summary: Set in the 1930s, about life in a small circus and a young man who witnesses the cruelty to animals and humans alike.


Title: Kitchen Confidential
Author: Bourdain, Anthony
Summary: Definitely a must-read for fans of the show No Reservations. An in-depth behind-the-scenes look at restaurants.


Title: Twilight
Author: Meyer, Stephanie
Summary: A fascinating story of a regular girl and the vampire who loves her. The story continues in the following books (New Moon & Eclipse). Quick, fun and wonderfully written.


Title: Father Michael’s Lottery
Author: Steyn, Johan
Summary: The characters in this story make readers care about real live people who cannot get access to drugs and medical care.


Title: Twenty Wishes
Author: Macomber, Debbie
Summary: Such a great idea – write down twenty wishes for yourself…The story is about 4 widows who decide on Valentine’s Day to make a list of 20 wishes for themselves to help heal their pain. And so the stories begin about each list.


Title: My Name is Asher Lev
Author: Potok, Chaim
Summary: I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone seeking to understand traditional Jewish culture or the “eye” of an artist better. I learned a lot but was also drawn in by the plot and progression of the story.


Title: Bloodsucking Fiends: A Love Story
Author: Moore, Christopher
Summary: This silly love story centers around a wannabe writer and his newly-turned vampire girlfriend. Christopher Moore fills the story with fun and likeable characters and his descriptive style is quite witty.
