- U.S. Census Microfilm Rental Program
Nichols Library will request any microfilm rolls of the United
States Census, which are available for research from 1790 through
1920. There is a fee for this service. Consult the Reference Desk at
Nichols Library for more information.
- Ship Passenger Records
The Nichols Library Reference Desk has copies of the National
Archives Order for Copies of Ship Passenger Arrival Records form
to pick up. You send this form in to the National Archives yourself;
the archives will respond to you directly. Instructions and mailing
address are on the form.
- Interlibrary Loan
The Nichols Library Reference staff may obtain books, documents and
newspapers from different libraries across the country on temporary
loan. Ask for a Request for Genealogy Information form for each item
you want at the Desk. Because of the numerous restrictions libraries
place on genealogical materials, be sure to enter on the form the
personal names you are researching. Libraries will often respond with
photocopies of those sections of the sources requested featuring your
names. Allow us at least two to four weeks to obtain the desired
materials.
