Are you sure you have the latest software on your PC? There is an answer.
This subject focuses not on the Microsoft Operating System (OS) updates but on the other software needed to run the applications installed.
One of my favorite software applications to check that all the installed applications are up to date is something called UpdateChecker from FileHippo. Yes,FileHippo.
What is it?
The UpdateChecker will scan your computer for installed software, check the versions and then send this information to FileHippo.com to see if there are any newer releases. These are then neatly displayed in your browser for you to download. Please note that not all programs are supported.
Here is a small example of the results.
Where to get it.
In your browser go to http://www.filehippo.com/updatechecker/
There are 2 options for download. The main option is a setup file, FHSetup.exe, that when installed will show an icon in the system tray and show when there are new updates ready for download. The second option is the standalone option. This option, which I use, once installed will only check for new updates when you click on the icon.
The first time you use this application you should change the settings. When you click on the icon you will see this displayed. Click on Settings.
The Settings display will appear.
Select the Results tab and make sure the “Hide beta versions” box is checked. Click OK and then on the first display click on Retry.
If something needs to be updated a green down arrow like the one in the example will appear. Just double-click and follow the instructions.
Stay Well, Stay Updated!
