As Tina Fey joked at the Golden Globes, awards season celebrates “films that have only been in theatres for two days.” While many of this year’s best films may not yet be available on DVD/Blu-Ray, now is the perfect time to check out some previous nominees and winners. The Artist*, The Descendants, Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close, The Help, Hugo, Midnight in Paris, Moneyball, The Tree of Life, and War Horse were all nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture last year.

NPL also has last year’s documentary nominees in the collection, including: Hell and Back Again, If a Tree Falls, Paradise Lost 3: Purgatory, Pina, and Undefeated* (on order).

The foreign film nominees: Bullhead (Belgium), Footnote (Israel), In Darkness (Poland), Monsieur Lazhar (Canada), and A Separation* (Iran) are part of our collection as well.

And if you are waiting to see this year’s best on DVD/Blu-Ray, take a look at the list below to see which movies have already been added to the collection, which ones we have ordered and started a hold list for, and the estimated release dates for the others.
