Our current Winter Family Read Aloud theme, "Read, Read, Read as Much as You Can!" is taken from the classic story of "The Gingerbread Man." If you don't already know it, here is the short version. It's fun to read out loud, and share with the children in your life.

Oh, the Gingerbread Man,
Popped out of the pan,
Then he took off
Fast and ran!

The Gingerbread Man

He ran past a woman,
And a little old man,
Saying "Run, run as fast as you can,
Can't catch me, I'm the Gingerbread Man!"

He ran past a cow,
He ran past a cat,
He ran past some chickens,
And a big brown rat.

He ran past a dog,
He ran past a pig,
He ran past some men --
He was doing a jig!

Saying, "Run, run as fast as you can!
Can't catch me, I'm the Gingerbread Man!"

But then he came
To a sly old fox,
And a big wide river
He couldn't cross.

THe fox said, "Come on
My back, now jump!"
But you know what happened --
He ate him up!

And THAT was the end of the Gingerbread Man!
