Summer is the perfect time for your little ones to "eat a rainbow!" Fruits and vegetables are plentiful, affordable, and at their peak in the summer months. Make them a mainstay in your child's diet. THey will never imagine that eating such colorful treats is so good for them. Reach for RED (cherry tomatoes, strawberries, raspberries, red pepper). Opt for ORANGE (mango, cantaloupe, carrots). Grab some GREEN (avocado, cucumber, kiwi, celery). Pick some PURPLE (grapes, plums, blueberries). Yell for YELLOW (bananas, lemons, squash, corn). Revel in your food rainbow.
WHirl fruits, veggies, ice cubes and Greek yogurt in a blender, and you have a "rainbow smoothie" -- far superior to a McDonald's shake! Try dropping whole fruits into ice cube tray compartments, add water, and freeze. The fruity cubes make any summer beverage special. Drink a "rainbow!"
