Aside from the endless possibilites of creativity, play doh aids in fine motor skills and eye-hand coordination. This, in turn, will greatly assist a young child's writing and cutting skills.

Here is an easy, no-cook recipe that makes a product better than store-bought play doh. The cream of tartar makes this dough last six months or longer when stored in an airtight container or a ziploc bag. Let your child enjoy squeezing, rolling, flattening and poking this long-lived play doh!

pay doh

2 cups flour

2 tbsp. vegetable oil

1/2 cup salt

2 tbsp. cream of tartar

Boiling water: Boil 1.5 cups of water. Start with 1 cup and add more for the right consistency.

Food coloring.

Mix, and then knead together.
