Here is an easy craft to make together on a cold winter day.
All you need is construction paper, glue, markers and mini-marshmallows.
Make it a learning experience by counting the marshmallows used. Count the marshmallows by 1's, 2's and 3's.
You can include this as a family craft for our Winter Family Read Aloud Program.
Using any color of construction paper outline snowpeople with mini-marshmallows.
Glue the marshmallows on the paper using white school glue. Decorate your snowperson or snowpeople with markers.
You can add hats, scarves, gloves and buttons.
Homemade Hot Chocolate
If any marshmallows are leftover from the craft above consider using them in some hot chocolate.
This is an easy hot chocolate recipe that can be pre-mixed and ready to use with milk.
Keep it on hand for a quick warm-up after outside activities.
3 1/2 cups sugar
2 1/4 cups cocoa
1 tablespoon salt
Whole milk for serving
1. In a large bowl combine sugar, cocoa and salt. Whisk to combine. Store the mixture in an airtight container.
2. For individual servings pour 1 cup whole milk into a microwave-safe mug and microwave on high until warm.
3. Add 2 tablespoons of cocoa mix and stir to dissolve. For a larger batch of cocoa warm the milk in a saucepan set over medium-low heat, taking care not to let the milk boil. Stir in 2 tablespoons of mix for each cup of milk.
