Celebrate Harry Potter's Birthday (95th)Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at 2:00 PM -- 95th Street Library
For Teens in 6th through 12th grades. Teen Harry Potter fans can fly their Nimbus 2000 or Ford Anglia to the library to celebrate Harry Potter's birthday! Make a wand, get sorted by the sorting hat or partake in Harry Potter trivia while watching "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" (PG) and drinking butterbeer. Several other take-home crafts and activities will also be provided. While Harry Potter's actual birthday isn't until July 31, the library is celebrating a little bit early this year. Place a hold on the Harry Potter play-turned-book "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child," which will be released on July 31.

Relax and refresh by coloring while enjoying a cup of tea, listening to music and chatting with other adults trying to decompress. The library will provide printed designs and various coloring media, or adults may wish to bring their own coloring book and supplies.
CS First Club: Coding Series (95th)Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at 4:00 PM -- 95th Street Library
CS First is an entry-level computer science program created by Google. It aims to empower children to create with technology and tell their own stories through hands-on computer programming activities. Children in 4th through 6th grades can learn and improve problem-solving and logic proficiencies as they study the visual programming language Scratch. *Program requires advanced registration, and participants must attend the entire series of four sessions.

Murder, suspense and a twist of humor are signature Alfred Hitchcock movie characteristics. The master of suspense's classics will play in series this summer at the library. Six movies will feature the best of his genius.

Students entering kindergarten through 5th grade can practice reading, listening to and discussing books in a fun and relaxed atmosphere with a teen volunteer this summer. Depending on attendance, readers may be placed in a group. Children may bring a book or choose one from the library. All participants must be independent readers. Those arriving more than 10 minutes late cannot be guaranteed placement with a partner.

Check out the new Wii UT gaming system on the big screen! The library has a variety of games, new and old, that can be played by up to four players. The regular Wii will be set up too. For Teens in 6th through 12th grades.

This is an introduction to Google Classroom, a blended learning platform for schools that aim to simplify creating, distributing and grading assignments in a paperless way. Dist. 204 and library staff collaborated to develop the content for this session.
