Movie lovers can visit the library each month for a screening of a newly released DVD. Skip the long lines at the theater as well as the long hold lists at the library and see a movie with other like-minded film buffs. Check the library's website,, for upcoming titles. No one younger than age 18 will be admitted to an R-rated movie without a parent or guardian.

Reader's Night Out (Other)

Stitching in the Stacks (95th)

This season's pay-it-forward community project is knit, crocheted or fleece-tied mats for shelter dogs and cats. Mats will go to Naperville Area Humane Society and ADOPT Pet Shelter and may accompany pets to their adoptive homes.

Participants should bring their choice of machine washable supplies, and the library will supply patterns. Participants may also bring their own projects to work on with fellow crafters. All skill levels may attend and experienced crafters are welcome to share their expertise and work with staff to help beginners.

Genealogy Drop-in Help (NIC)

A volunteer from the Fox Valley Genealogical Society will be available in the adult services department to help any interested individuals who wish to obtain assistance either to get started on a genealogy project or to complete difficult genealogical research challenges.

English conversation groups for ESL students (NBL)

These groups are designed to give English-as-a-second-language students a change to practice their skills in a relaxed and comfortable environment. All adult learners can attend the free groups, and one does not have to attend every session. No registration is required.

Gardening to Attract Birds & Butterflies (NIC)

Pat Armstrong of DuPage Wild Ones will explain how gardeners can lure native butterflies and song birds into their yards by replacing their chemical and water dependent lawn with native plants that are adapted to the land's soils and climate. Native plants will require less water and no chemicals in order to thrive and will also provide food and shelter for native bees, butterflies and song birds.
