Make Your Own Ringtone (NIC)

Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at 3:00 PM -- Nichols Library
Music lovers can play with the library?'s instruments to create a unique, one-of-a-kind ringtone. Individuals can record their tune as an MP3 file. Android users may be able to enjoy their ringtone on the spot, while Apple users will receive instructions to download their ringtone at home.

Locker Magnets (NIC)

Individuals will gear up for the start of school by creating personalized locker magnets, using magazine scraps of words and images. Supplies will be provided, but teens can bring any small pictures to use.

*8-Bit It! Fuse Bead Art (NBL)

Participants can create pixel art of their favorite science fiction character, video game plumber or geektastic icon using fuse beads. The library will provide patterns and showcase a pattern generator to help teens create anything they can dream up. *Program requires advanced registration and is limited to 20 teen participants.

Wii?(TM) Gaming Tournaments:?"Mario Kart?(TM)?" (NIC)

Monday, August 18, 2014 at 2:00 PM -- Nichols Library
Teens can show off their mad gaming skills at the library?'s Wii?(TM) Tournaments. They can compete to win bragging rights and a Target gift card. For those who wish not to participate in the tournament, but love Nintendo can bring your Nintendo DS to play for fun with other gamers.

Teens can transform their toes with a skeleton and monster shoe design. Teens are required to bring plain white canvas shoes to stylize them into skeleton bones and monster toes. Supplies, including Sharpie markers, paint and other accessories, will be provided. *Program requires advanced registration and is limited to 20 teen participants.

Anime Club: Origami (NIC)

Attendees can make origami while watching their favorite anime.

*NXT 2.0 Programming: Zombie Encounter Challenge (NSL)

Thursday, August 21, 2014 at 2:00 PM -- 95th Street Library
Teams will compete to build and program a LEGO Mindstorms robot that will navigate a zombie-filled terrain and rescue stranded humans. The team that can avoid the zombies and save the most humans the fastest will rule the undead. After the challenge, teens can program LEGO WeDos or play with a MaKey MaKey invention kit to control a video game with Play-Doh or play a piano made of bananas. * Program requires advanced registration and is limited to 10 teen participants.

*Boy Scout Reading Merit Badge Program(NSL) (Canceled)

Thursday, August 21, 2014 at 6:00 PM -- 95th Street Library
Boy Scouts of America can earn their merit badge for reading and learn more about the services the library offers during the program. They can get a jump on their requirements by learning to use the online catalog and then locating and selecting books from a variety of genres. A merit badge counselor from the participant?'s troop is welcome to sign off on the individual?'s badge, or the library will have a staff member available who can sign off too. *Program requires advanced registration and is limited to 20 Boy Scouts. Participants must be registered Boy Scouts.
