Individuals can visit Quigley?'s Irish Pub for a night of socializing with other readers. They can share a book they have recently finished or just a book they love. Participants can arrive at the pub at 6:15 p.m. to purchase dinner, or they can just attend the discussion, which will start at 7 pm.

ENGLISH CONVERSATION GROUPS FOR ESL STUDENTS

These groups are designed to give English-as-a-Second-Language students a chance to practice their skills in a relaxed and comfortable environment. There is no fee for attending these classes, and one does not have to attend every session. Patrons are invited to attend whenever they can. All adult learners are welcome.

The Men of Omaha Beach

This year marks the 70th anniversary of D-Day, the largest amphibious invasion in history that liberated France from four years of Nazi occupation. During this presentation, Robert Mueller, a veteran battlefield historian, will paint a picture of Omaha Beach and provide insight into the invasion. The presentation will focus on the men responsible for the success of that risky endeavor. Mueller will showcase a combination of period and contemporary photographs with clearly drawn maps to describe the places and people.

How to Begin Tracing Your Family Tree

Individuals can learn about tracing their family?'s history during this program. A volunteer from the Fox Valley Genealogical Society will explain family sources, vital records and how to make use of online resources. Participants also will find out the genealogical resources available in their community, including cemeteries, courthouses and churches.

Photo Conversion (NSL)

Attendees can bring in photos and scan them in minutes with the library's new ScanSnap photo scanner. They can edit their digital photos with Photoshop Elements and archive their family photo history.
