  • Untangling Tolkien by Michael W. Perry
A helpful book for understanding some of the confusing parts of "Lord of the Rings." Besides a running chronological record starting long before the story begins through the final days of all the familiar characters, there are short essays about what Tolkien and his friends thought about various issues. There are also insights from Tolkien's life that impact his writing....

  • The Griffin's Flight by K. J. Taylor

  • The Dark Griffin by K. J. Taylor
I picked this up out of curiosity, thinking I was going to be reading a stereotypical "dragon" type fantasy book which is getting old and seems to be the was to go in fantasy lately. But it wasn't. Taylor is a good writer and gets you really involved with the characters. Great story I have a new author to check out. Book 1 of 3. What happens when a wild griffen is enslaved and made to fight and kill in an arena? And the man who rescues him......

  • Waiter Rant Thanks for the Tip Confessions of a Cynical Waiter by The Waiter (Steve Dublanica)
Book on CD This was one of the best books I've listed to all year. I will never look at a restaurant the same way again. It was not stereotypical. No stories of waiters spiting in food... It was well written. The waiter is an excellent writer and it all started with the blog he started called Waiter rant. There are also tips on how to be a good customer and other good advise. I would recommend everyone read this....
