Belpré Award
It is presented to a Latino/Latina writer and illustrator whose work best portrays, affirms, and celebrates the Latino cultural experience in an outstanding work of literature for children and youth.
Bluestem Award
It is designed for students in grades 3-5; named in honor of Big Bluestem which is state prairie grass. The titles includes classics and current titles, as well as books that have appeared on Monarch and Rebecca Caudill lists.
Caldecott Medal
It is awarded annually to the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children.
Coretta Scott King Award
Given to African American authors and illustrator for outstanding inspirational and educational contributions. The titles promote understanding and appreciation of the culture of all peoples and their contribution to the realization of the American dream of a pluralistic society.
Edgar Award
It is awarded to Mystery Writers.
Geisel Award (Theodor Seuss)
It is given annually to the author(s) and illustrator(s) of the most distinguished American book for beginning readers published in English in the United States during the preceding year
Monarch Award
It is Illinois' K-3 Readers' Choice Award.
Newbery Award
It is awarded to the author of the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children.
Rebecca Caudill Young Reader's Book Award
It is an annual award given to the author of the book voted most outstanding by students in grades four through eight in participating Illinois schools.
Schneider Family Book Award
It is given annually by the American Library Association, honors an author or illustrator for the artistic expression of the disability experience for children and teens.
Scott O'Dell Award for Historical Fiction
It is awarded annually to an author for a meritorious historical fiction book published in the previous year for children or young adults.
Sibert (Robert F.) Informational Book Medal
It is awarded annually to the author(s) and illustrator(s) of the most distinguished informational book published in the United States in English during the preceding year.
