Kinder Tag at Christkindlmarket Naperville

As the Christkindlmarket brings its cherished German and European tradition with international flair and local charm to Naper Settlement, Naperville Public Library will help celebrate at Christkindlmarket Naperville's Children's Day. Enjoy a day full of kid-friendly events, including a special storytime provided by library staff at 2:15 and 3 p.m. Attendees also can visit with the Christkind, a fairy-like being that is the bearer of gifts to children in German-speaking countries. Kids also can join an evening lantern parade, a tradition celebrated by German school children in honor of all good Samaritans. Registration for the parade starts at 3:30 p.m. Admission to the market is free. The market will be at Naper Settlement from Nov. 25 through Dec. 24.

Interactive Sensory Evening (NIC)

Families will participate in activity stations, reading and crafts with their children who will enjoy sensory experiences. This drop-in program is for children 3 years old and older and has a room limit of 30 participants.

This 30-minute program of stories, songs and more fun activities is for children of all ages. In addition, strategies will be presented to enhance early learning opportunities at home. At least one parent or adult caregiver is required to accompany their children.

Maker Mondays (NIC)

Visit the library's Makerspace each week to tinker, create and build hands-on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) activities. The library will provide the materials - kids provide the imagination! For children in 1st through 5th grades with a caregiver.

Sing a Story (95th)

Come sing and play at the library! This interactive program features an approach to literacy called Education Through Music. Participants can play song based games, move to music and listen to stories. This program is for children ages 4 to 6 years old and is limited to 22 participants.

Anime Club (NBL)

Visit the library each month to watch anime, talk about different aspects of Japanese pop culture and meet other otaku!

Pizza & Books: Teen Book Club (NIC)

Teen readers can discuss books they have recently read, are currently reading or even old-time favorites. Teens will also share book recommendations and talk about books they love to hate. Pizza will be provided to fuel the conversation.
