Kids love dressing up all year long, so why should they only wear costumes during Halloween? Whether participants dress up as their favorite animal, superhero, doctor, royalty or whatever costume they want, they can visit the library in costume, share stories about the joys of dressing up, dance and make a craft.
*Illuminated Plush Monsters (NBL)Thursday, July 31, 2014 at 1:30 PM -- Naper Boulevard Library
Attendees can create monsters from felt and use conductive thread to sew in batteries, LED lights and LilyTiny microcontrollers to give them glowing eyes, beating hearts and other cool features. *Program requires advanced registration and is limited to 10 teen participants.

Individuals can learn how to convert cassettes to digital format using the library's new conversion equipment and Audacity software.

This 30-minute program of stories, songs and more is for children of all ages. In addition, strategies will be presented to enhance early learning opportunities right in your home! At least one parent or adult caregiver is required to accompany children to these fun filled programs.

ATTENTION! Students entering 1st through 5th grades, do you want to spend time reading aloud with an older student? This non-tutoring program is intended to provide children with an opportunity to spend time reading aloud with a student volunteer. Come to the library at one of the times listed below. Children will be paired with a volunteer entering 6th through 12th grades and will spend the one-hour session taking turns reading aloud. Depending on attendance, a child may be placed in a group.

Children can enjoy a blast from the past with some groovy cool crafts from the ?'70s and ?'80s. Kids can create a different retro craft at each session and perhaps restart the trend all over again. For children in 3rd through 5th grades. Room limit of 20 participants.
