Nanowrimo Write-ins (NIC)

As November is National Novel Writing Month,individuals can bring a laptop to the library to join other like-minded writers and members of the Naperville region of NaNoWriMo to help motivate and encourage each other to write a 50,000+ word novel in 30 days. November marks the second annual month-long celebration of dinosaurs at the library. Kid voyageurs can go on a dinosaur scavenger hunt in the children's department, check out a dinosaur book from the display as well as enjoy dinosaur-themed storytimes, programs and crafts.

Crazy Contraptions: Mini Marshmallow Shooters (NIC)

Teens can make a mini marshmallow shooter out of PVC pipes and test their contraptions out by launching marshmallows at the library. *Program requires advanced registration and is limited to 20 teen participants.

Winter Family Read Aloud - Reading is So Sweet

Families can enjoy reading and other activities together during the Winter Family Read Aloud throughout December and January. Beginning Dec. 1, each family can register to receive one log per month to record their family's reading sessions and shared fun activities such as the library's ever-popular Family Gingerbread House Display. Each log can be returned for prizes and a chance to win Chicago Wolves hockey tickets.

YAY FOR YA! An Online Goodreads Book Club

"Recurring, ongoing program. Lovers of YA literature can sign up for the library's online Goodreads book club. Each month, a new book will be selected, and readers can discuss it online through the participant's Goodreads account.

Family Storytime (NIC)

This 30-minute program of stories, songs and more fun activities is for children of all ages. In addition, strategies will be presented to enhance early learning opportunities at home. At least one parent or adult caregiver is required to accompany their children.

A volunteer from the Fox Valley Genealogical Society will be available in the adult services department to help any interested individuals who wish to obtain assistance either to get started on a genealogy project or to complete difficult genealogical research challenges.
