Former Naperville resident Rebecca Bricker will present her new book, "The Secret of Marie," an art-history mystery set in Giverny, France, where Claude Monet spent the last half of his life. Marie was the favorite model of American Impressionist artist Theodore Robinson (1852-1896), who was mentored by Monet. Marie appeared in a number of Robinson's paintings, but little is known about her, which has perplexed art historians for years. The author will share details of a significant discovery she made in her role as an art-history detective while conducting research for this book. She also will feature vintage and present-day photographs of Giverny and provide tips to those wanting to visit.
