Poetry Treasure HuntThursday, April 30, 2015 at 9:00 AM -- Nichols Library
Throughout April, celebrate National Poetry Month with a Poetry Treasure Hunt at the library. Children of all ages can search for hidden poems throughout the library anytime during the month of April. Pick up a form at the children's reference desk containing 10 clues, and then it's off to look high and low throughout the children's department for the 10 corresponding poems. Each library will have its own treasure hunt.
Sign and play with baby - Mealtime (NIC)Thursday, April 30, 2015 at 9:30 AM -- Nichols Library
This three-week program will provide a fun environment for babies and their caregivers to learn the basics of sign language. Each week, a new theme will be introduced using stimulating activities, books, songs and play.
Rocking on the road to reading (NSL)Thursday, April 30, 2015 at 10:00 AM -- 95th Street Library
Children and their adult caregivers can explore fun early literacy activities as well as science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) activities that they can do together during this hands-on workshop. Stations that include reading a rhyming book, retelling a story with puppets and discovering what objects sink or float will help prepare a child for reading. This drop-in program is for parents and caregivers accompanied by children from infants to age 5. Children attending the program must be supervised by an adult.
Business Tech Workshops: Youtube Basics (NSL)Thursday, April 30, 2015 at 6:30 PM -- 95th Street Library
Learn how to create a business account on YouTube as well as view and upload videos. Also, watch a lynda.com tutorial about building an audience and monetizing a YouTube channel.
Poetry Slam(NIC)Thursday, April 30, 2015 at 7:00 PM -- Nichols Library
Teens can submit their poem for the Teen Poetry Contest in April, and then share it at the Poetry Slam. Poems will be judged by audience members, and a prize will be awarded. Teens also can read a favorite poem just for fun or attend the slam just to listen. Family members and friends also are welcome to attend. A popcorn bar will be served for attendees to create their own snack mixes.

Little sprouts can visit the library to hear stories, sing songs and make a craft that will plant a little knowledge about how gardens grow. All sprouts will leave the program giving two green thumbs up!
Stitching in the stacks(NBL)Friday, May 01, 2015 at 1:00 PM -- Naper Boulevard Library
Stitch with the library's community knit, crochet and needlecraft club. Crafters can share tips and ideas as well as showcase their latest project or ask for help on a project they may be struggling to complete. Along with good company, conversation and refreshments, attendees will learn about charity projects, share ideas and patterns or swap materials. Books on knitting, crocheting and needlecrafts will be available. All skill levels may attend.
Chamber music at the library (NSL)Friday, May 01, 2015 at 7:30 PM -- 95th Street Library
DuPage Symphony Orchestra will present a free, fun-filled evening of chamber music appropriate for all ages. The informal performance will include an engaging question-and-answer session with the musicians after the program.
