English conversation groups for ESL students (NBL)

These groups are designed to give English-as-a-second-language students a change to practice their skills in a relaxed and comfortable environment. All adult learners can attend the free groups, and one does not have to attend every session. No registration is required.

At various stages of the life cycle of every business there will be needs for financing growth. Specific needs of a business dictate the available sources and structure of funding. Rick Burgess, CEO of Connect Lending, will address the financing needs of a business in the earliest stages of the life cycle. Attendees will understand the options that are available and how to qualify for the funding needed for business expansion, revenue growth and equipment acquisition.

At this NaperLaunch Meet-up, Scott Palmer, COO at Spikeball, Inc., will share lessons learned from his entrepreneurial journeys. He and his partners were able to launch a new venture a couple years back that has achieved scalability, while creating a new sport and community. Scott will share some ideas on how to prepare to pitch a funding request to venture and angel groups.

Entrepreneurs Week: Intellectual Property Part 1, Patents & Trade Secrets (95th)

Patents and trade secrets often can cover the same information. However, the steps for obtaining each and the level of protection for each are quite different. This presentation will describe the requirements for protecting trade secrets and obtaining patents, analyze the advantages and disadvantages of choosing one form over the other, and discuss enforcement against infringers. Both entrepreneurs who have existing businesses and those considering beginning a business are encouraged to attend.

Chamber Music at the Library: Starry Night (95th)

DuPage Symphony Orchestras free chamber music concert at the library features DuPage Symphony Orchestra's principal harpist Nichols Luchs in "Starry Nights." This is an educational and engaging program featuring a variety of music and demonstrations of this wonderful instrument. A question and answer session follows the performance.
