Staff will present this popular Riverwalk program, which will include stories, songs and a puppet show. Participants can bring a meal or snack. In the event of inclement weather, the program will take place in the Community Room of Nichols Library.

Video Creation For Kids (95th)

Budding filmmakers can make their own movies for fun with friends or for a school project. They can learn how to record and edit as well as add music, sound effects and titles to their movie clips using the Idea Lab's high-definition camcorder and editing software called iMovie. For students in 3rd through 5th grades. Program requires advanced registration and is limited to 12 participants.

Racing with robotics (95th)

Children can utilize their critical thinking skills to build robots out of LEGOs and program them using WeDo software to move, react and make sounds. Children also will create cars that actually zip through an interactive, robotic finish line. This robotics class will enhance communication, collaborative and problem-solving skills.

Baby play date (NIC)

Parents can stroll into the library with their baby for a play date that allows children to share interactive bonding time with their caregivers and meet new friends. This program will include 20 minutes of stories, songs and bouncing fun as well as 10 minutes of exploratory play. For infants to 23-month-olds and their caregivers.

DuPage Children's Museum is taking exhibits on the road and visiting the library. The museum's early learning specialist and community access coordinator will provide play facilitation techniques using portable versions of full-sized exhibits. In addition, library staff will demonstrate the power of play through storytime. This program is presented in partnership with DuPage Children's Museum.

Sign and play with baby - Meal time (NIC)

Monday, August 10, 2015 at 6:30 PM -- Nichols Library
Learn to communicate with babies using sign language. This three-week program will provide a fun environment for babies and their caregivers to learn the basics of sign language. Each week, a new theme will be introduced using stimulating activities, books, songs and play.
