YAY for YA!-An online goodreaads book club

Lovers of young adult literature can sign up for the library's online Goodreads book club. Each month, a new book will be selected, and readers can discuss it online through the participants' Goodreads account. Request to join the group ?"Yay for YA!: An Online Book Club?" online at www.goodreads.com, or email teen librarian Alison Colman at acolman@naperville-lib.org. Sign up early to take a poll on what book selection the club should read first. The first book will be posted on June 1, and participants will have the entire month to read it and discuss.

Superhero writing and drawing contest

Every hero has a story, and teens can write it. Teen writers can submit a written biography or a short story (1,500 words or less) as well as their own drawing of a superhero. Participants can include their superhero's name, where they live, their powers, their slogan and how they accomplish good in the world. The contest will begin June 1, and the deadline for entries is 9 p.m. Friday, July 31. Gift certificates to a local comic book store will be awarded to winners. Pick up an entry form at any Naperville Public Library location or look it up on the teen page of the library's website, www.naperville-lib.org.

Teen movie marathon: The Hobbit:An Unexpected Journey (PG-13)(NBL)

Adventure and fantasy fans can enjoy a three-day Tolkien movie marathon for the ultimate heroes?' journey, "The Hobbit Trilogy." Snacks will be provided as well as a few surprises for "tricksy hobbitses," party elves and stubborn dwarves. Costumes are encouraged, but not required.

Superhero Trivia: Fandom vs. Fandom (95th)

Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at 3:30 PM -- 95th Street Library
Pick a side: Choose between Marvel versus DC Comics. Then, comic book fans can prepare to propel their team to the top with their superhero trivia knowledge. Questions from each fandom will be asked during multiple rounds that get harder the farther each team advances. The winning team will receive bragging rights, an opportunity to experience the Idea Lab at 95th Street Library and print an object on the library's 3-D printer.

Open mic night @ the riverwalk

Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at 7:00 PM -- Nichols Library
Teens can join the library for an evening of entertainment on the Riverwalk. Performers are invited to showcase their talents of singing, dancing, playing an instrument, storytelling, poetry, and comedy. Family and friends are welcome to join the audience too. In case of inclement weather, the library will host Open Mic Night in the Community Room at Nichols Library.
