Teens can explore their design talents while decorating cupcakes and cookies at the library. There will be a different theme each month. Decorators can eat, take home or give their treats as gifts.

Valentine's Day Card Creation(NSL)

Thursday, February 05, 2015 at 6:30 PM -- 95th Street Library
Create a personal Valentine's Day card for that someone special using Photoshop Elements. Learn the basics of the program and how to composite different images to make a personalized Valentine's Day card. Bring digital photos on a flash drive or print photos to scan. Scanning is limited to two photos per person, and the program is appropriate for all ages. Program requires advanced registration.

Anime Club (NBL)

Come to the library each month to watch anime, draw manga, talk about different aspects of Japanese pop culture and meet other otaku.

Valentine?'s Day Cupcake Decorating(NIC)

Monday, February 09, 2015 at 4:00 PM -- Nichols Library
The program will teach basic cake decorating techniques like how to hold a decorating bag and how to use decorating tips to make pretty boarders, simple flowers and a written message. Teens will be able to practice their new skills on a cupcake.

Teens can make like cupid and design their own valentines while watching the fate of more than a dozen couples in "Valentine's Day" (pg-13). They can poke fun at the movie's cheesiness by texting comments using MuVChat.

Arduino workshops(NIC)

Arduino Workshops: Sensor Projects - Create projects using light and temperature sensors.
Interested in coding and electronics but don't know where to start? Arduino microcontroller boards can be easily programmed using a variant of the c programming language. They receive inputs from a variety of switches or sensors to control lights, motors or other outputs. Arduino projects can be as simple as a light blinking on and off or as complex as a robot or smart thermostat. During these workshops, individuals can write and compile code to bring a variety of projects to life using the arduino uno and various electronic components.

Afternoon workshops are open to teens in 6th through 12th grades, while evening workshops are open to both teens and adults. No prior electronics or programming experience is required.
