YAY FOR YA! An Online Goodreads Book Club

"Recurring, ongoing program. Lovers of YA literature can sign up for the library's online Goodreads book club. Each month, a new book will be selected, and readers can discuss it online through the participant's Goodreads account.
Request to join the group "Yay for YA!: An Online Book Club" on Goodreads or email teen librarian Alison Colman at acolman@naperville-lib.org.

New books will be posted at the beginning of each month, and participants will have the entire month to read it and discuss."

3-D Software & Printing For Teens

Learn how to design three-dimensional object using 3-D software as well as the process of printing it using the library's 3-D printer. *Program requires advanced registration with a fee and is limited to 12 participants. 

The computer and technology classes have a non-refundable, non-transferable attendance fee for each class that must be paid at the time of registration. Classes are appropriate for adults and students in 8th grade or older and are limited to 12 participants. Registrations for these classes are taken at the computer lab desks.

The fee for these classes is:

Naperville Public Library card holders: $10

Non-Naperville Public Library card holders: $20

Participants can transfer to another class with one week's advance notice. If individuals cannot attend a class for any reason, they should inform the computer lab staff so the spot may be available to an individual on the waiting list.

How Pinteresting (NSL)

Visit the library to create an interesting Pinterest craft! Stop by the upper level adult services desk to see an example of the Pinterest crafts the group will make the week before each program. *Program requires advanced registration and is limited to 20 teen participants.

Screen-Printing Basics (NBL)

Friday, June 10, 2016 at 1:30 PM -- Naper Blvd. Library
Teens will learn basic screen-printing techniques using the library's Cameo Silhouette machines to create and cut out designs. A small tote bag for each participant, which is perfect for carrying a summer reading book haul from the library, will be provided. Bring some ideas for a simple image to screen-print. *Program requires advanced registration and is limited to 12 teen participants. For Teens in 6th through 12th grades.

Anime Club

Anime fans can enjoy some Japanese snacks, wear cosplay and chat about Japanese animation. For Teens in 6th through 12th grades.

Improv with the Make 'Em Ups (NIC)

Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at 2:00 PM -- Nichols Library
Chicago Improv Productions' The Make 'Em Ups presents their entertaining improvised show, including a talented cast of four professional adult actors who will teach teens how to improvise by using improv's magic rule of "Yes, and ." They will also illustrate how to create stories by demonstrating the principles of "who/what/where" that are in every improv scene. Some lucky volunteers will be selected to play in 1 of 4 different improv games to wrap up this creative show. For Teens in 6th through 12th grades. 

Olympic Disco Teen Dance @ the Riverwalk

Friday, June 17, 2016 at 7:30 PM -- Nichols Library
Celebrate the beginning of summer and the library's reading program with a kick off dance at the Riverwalk!  A disc jockey will be taking requests of favorite songs and group dances. The theme of this year's summer reading program is Read for the Win! Thanks to Sounds Abound for providing DJs and music. For Teens in 6th through 12th grades.

C2 Education Practice Tests - ACT (95th)

Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 12:00 PM -- 95th Street Library
Students can take a free, full-length practice test administered by C2 Education to help prepare for the actual exam. The essay portion of the test is not included. This program is presented in partnership with C2 Education. *Program requires advanced registration.
