Teen Events for the Month of June

Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at 1:30 PM -- 95th Street Library
ATTENTION! Students entering 1st through 5th grades, do you want to spend time reading aloud with an older student? This non-tutoring program is intended to provide children with an opportunity to spend time reading aloud with a student volunteer. Come to the library at one of the times listed below. Children will be paired with a volunteer entering 6th through 12th grades and will spend the one-hour session taking turns reading aloud. Depending on attendance, a child may be placed in a group.

Gathering of Gamers (NSL)

Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at 2:00 PM -- 95th Street Library
Gamers can round up their friends, bring their favorite board or card games to the library and try to get on the library?'s leaderboard during this afternoon of fun. Snacks will be provided.

*Bleach Art T-Shirts (NBL)

Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 1:30 PM -- Naper Boulevard Library
DO-IT-YOURSELF

The program will teach participants a technique that allows crafters to etch words and art onto black T-shirts using bleach. Participants should bring a black 100% cotton T-shirt and they should wear clothes they don?'t mind getting ruined.*Program requires advanced registration and is limited to 20 participants.

*ACT Kaplan?(TM) Strategies (NSL)

Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 7:00 PM -- 95th Street Library
Students can learn score-raising strategies for the ACT from a Kaplan instructor. *Program requires advanced registration. This program is presented in partnership with Kaplan.

Teen Ignite - Discover, Create, Connect

Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 10:00 AM -- 95th Street Library
Teens in 6th through 12th grades can learn and have fun during Teen Ignite, a high-energy, all-day event featuring hands-on presentations like flavoring gum, programming and circuit bending.Please bring a bag lunch. Snacks provided.
