Let the Games Begin: The Origin of Sports (95th)

Friday, July 08, 2016 at 2:00 PM -- 95th Street Library
During this fun-filled program, ancient athlete "Discus Meter" will lead kids through time to discover the beginning of some of today's most enjoyable pastimes. The Olympic Games, baseball, football, basketball, ice-skating and tennis will all be on the audience's scorecard. This program is presented by Histories for Kids, Inc.

Family Storytime (95th)

This 30-minute program of stories, songs and other activities is for children of all ages. In addition, staff members will present strategies to enhance early learning opportunities at home. At least one parent or adult caregiver is required to accompany children to these fun-filled programs.

Bark For Books (NBL)

Saturday, July 09, 2016 at 11:30 AM -- Naper Blvd. Library
The dogs are back in town this summer! Kids entering 1st through 5th grades can get a free ticket to read with a therapy/canine good citizen dog and owner team starting at 11 a.m. the day of the program. These special dogs are all ears for a good story. Parents and siblings are invited to meet the dogs at the conclusion of the program. No registration required. This program is presented in partnership with Naperville Area Humane Society, PAWSitive Therapy Troupe/Pets for Vets, Two Bostons and Naperville Public Library.

Baby Play Date (NBL)

Monday, July 11, 2016 at 9:30 AM -- Naper Blvd. Library
Babies learn through play! Adults and infants can enjoy stories, songs and bounces, followed by 10 minutes of exploratory play with their new friends. For infants through 23-month-olds and their caregivers.

Students entering kindergarten through 5th grade can practice reading, listening to and discussing books in a fun and relaxed atmosphere with a teen volunteer this summer. Depending on attendance, readers may be placed in a group. Children may bring a book or choose one from the library. All participants must be independent readers. Those arriving more than 10 minutes late cannot be guaranteed placement with a partner.

Sign and Play With Baby (NIC)

Monday, July 11, 2016 at 6:30 PM -- Nichols Library
Learn to communicate with babies using sign language. This three-week program provides a fun environment for babies and their caregivers to learn the basics of sign language. Each week, a new theme will be introduced using stimulating activities, books, songs and play. For children 8 - 23 months old. *Program requires advanced registration and is limited to 12 babies per program.
