What is LINKin?

LINKin is a resource sharing partnership between Naperville Public Library, Arlington Heights Memorial Library, Cook Memorial Public Library, Deerfield Public Library, Elmhurst public Library, Gail Borden Public Library, Skokie Public Library, Waukegan Public Library and Wheaton Public Library.

LINKin service provides NPL card holders quick access to the collection of all partner libraries when items are not owned by the Naperville Public Library or are checked out. Currently there are over 400,000 unique items in the LINKin Libraries system that Naperville Public Library do not own but are accessible by Naperville Public Library cardholders at no cost.

How does LINKin work?

When an item you are looking for is not owned by the Naperville Public Library or is currently checked out, you can search LINKin Libraries catalog. If the item is available for check out at any of the partner libraries, you can request it to be sent to Naperville Public Library for pick up at any of our three locations. If the request is successful, the item will be sent to your selected location within a week and you will be notified when it is ready for pick-up. You can return the items obtained from LINKin Libraries to any of the Naperville Public Library locations.

Please bear in mind that certain materials, such as new or special collections, newspapers, magazines and certain AV materials are excluded from LINKin services and will not be availabe for request. Only items that appear in the LINKin catalog are available for sharing between member libraries.

What can I request from LINKin Libraries catalog?

You can request print and AV materials found in the LINKin Libraries catalog when they are available on the shelf. You will not be able to place holds on items that are currently checked out at other libraries in the LINKin system.

How long can I check out the materials from LINKin Libraries?

Books and most AV materials check out for 4 weeks; DVDs check out for 1 week. You can renew them once for 1 week on DVDs and 2 weeks on all other materials. Overdue fees will be charged at the same rate of Naperville Public Library late fees.
