Nichols Library undergoing roof construction

Re-construction of the Nichols Library roof began this week and is expected to last through Nov. 23, assuming there are no weather delays.  The building will remain open during the entire construction project and only a few spaces in the parking lot will be blocked intermittently throughout the work.  The drive through book return may be closed periodically, for short durations.

“This is a complicated project,” explains Nichols Library Manager Sue Prindiville.  “The first step is the removal of the river rock covering the membrane of the old roof.   This will be followed by three weeks of roof removal and installation of temporary roofing.  The final six weeks of work will include insulation, finishing roof, flashing and sheet metal.  This is the first time the roof has been redone since the building opened in 1986.”

“Because the project is so extensive, we expect there will be noise disturbance during the work.  We apologize for any inconvenience to our patrons.” Prindiville adds.
