NPL to Provide Classes to Help Community Members become Financially Savvy
Naperville Public Library will provide two classes this month that will enhance attendees’ financial literacy as part of its Healthy, Wealthy and Wise initiative. Both programs will be held at Nichols Library, 200 W. Jefferson Ave.
The Library will host “Strategies for Claiming Social Security Benefits” on Tuesday, August 13, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Community Room at Nichols Library. This program is partially funded by a grant from the City of Naperville.
Karen Chan, CFP, of Karen Chan Financial Education & Consulting, LLC, will provide insight into the best strategies for filing for and claiming Social Security benefits. Chan will share the results of several studies that looked at how to maximize Social Security income to help attendees evaluate how they can apply these strategies to their own situations.
For those looking to make better investing and business decisions, “Investment Workshop: Using NetAdvantage to Manage Investments” is being offered on Thursday, August 15, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., also in the Community Room at Nichols Library.
Wall Street veteran Dan Sovocool, Director of Sales, S&P Capital IQ, will share how to use S&P’s online resource, NetAdvantage, which is available at the Library. NetAdvantage allows users to access detailed reports on stocks, mutual funds, and exchange traded funds, including company and industry profiles.
