ATTENTION! Students entering 1st through 5th grades, do you want to spend time reading aloud with an older student? This non-tutoring program is intended to provide children with an opportunity to spend time reading aloud with a student volunteer. Come to the library at one of the times listed below. Children will be paired with a volunteer entering 6th through 12th grades and will spend the one-hour session taking turns reading aloud. Depending on attendance, a child may be placed in a group.

*Chainmail Bracelets (NIC)

Tuesday, July 01, 2014 at 2:00 PM -- Nichols Library
DO-IT-YOURELF
Participants can use real chainmail links to create a unique bracelet that is reminiscent of the time of knights, armor and dragons. Supplies will be provided, but teens should bring a pair or two of needle nose pliers. *Program requires advanced registration and is limited to 15 teen participants.

*NXT 2.0 Programming: Zombie Encounter Challenge (NBL)

Thursday, July 03, 2014 at 1:30 PM -- Naper Boulevard Library
Teams will compete to build and program a LEGO Mindstorms robot that will navigate a zombie-filled terrain and rescue stranded humans. The team that can avoid the zombies and save the most humans the fastest will rule the undead. After the challenge, teens can program LEGO WeDos or play with a MaKey MaKey invention kit to control a video game with Play-Doh or play a piano made of bananas. * Program requires advanced registration and is limited to 10 teen participants.

Friday, July 04, 2014 at All Day -- All Libraries
All three locations of the library will be closed. Book drop-off will be open 24/7 at all buildings. Materials can be renewed online.
