*NXT 2.0 Programming: Zombie Encounter Challenge (NSL)

Thursday, August 21, 2014 at 2:00 PM -- 95th Street Library
Teams will compete to build and program a LEGO Mindstorms robot that will navigate a zombie-filled terrain and rescue stranded humans. The team that can avoid the zombies and save the most humans the fastest will rule the undead. After the challenge, teens can program LEGO WeDos or play with a MaKey MaKey invention kit to control a video game with Play-Doh or play a piano made of bananas. * Program requires advanced registration and is limited to 10 teen participants.

*Boy Scout Reading Merit Badge Program(NSL) (Canceled)

Boy Scouts of America can earn their merit badge for reading and learn more about the services the library offers during the program. They can get a jump on their requirements by learning to use the online catalog and then locating and selecting books from a variety of genres. A merit badge counselor from the participant?'s troop is welcome to sign off on the individual?'s badge, or the library will have a staff member available who can sign off too. *Program requires advanced registration and is limited to 20 Boy Scouts. Participants must be registered Boy Scouts.

Pizza And Books: Teen Book Club (NIC)

This is no ordinary book club as participants will talk about the books they choose. Teens can discuss books they have recently read, are currently are reading or even old-time favorites. Pizza will be provided to fuel the conversation.

Monthly Teen Book Giveaway (NSL)

Love reading and reviewing books? Teens can stop by the upper level Adult Services desk on the last Wednesday of each month to grab a soon-to-be-released and popular young adult book. Participants can take the book home, add it to their collection and write a review for each book. The library will publish reviewers?' comments on its website.
