Naperville Public Library Librarian Is Honored by Romance Writers
Second time NPL Librarian Honored
Kathleen Longacre, an Adult Services librarian at the 95th Street Library, has been named Northern Illinois Librarian of the Year because of her support of the romance genre. She will be honored at an April dinner given by the Windy City Romance Writers Association.
“I am so honored to receive this award from this wonderful group of writers!” explains Longacre. “I have never encountered a group of professionals that are so supportive of one another's efforts. They are truly first class mentors. It is such an exciting and pleasant part of my job as a librarian to support the romance genre. Romance writers make it their mission to know what's hot with their readers and time and again come up with such amazing stories.”
This is the third time a librarian from the Naperville Public Library has won this award. Betty Wampach received the award in 2005. Karen Toonen received the award in 2010.
