YAY FOR YA! An Online Goodreads Book Club

Lovers of YA literature can sign up for the library's online Goodreads book club. Each month, a new book will be selected, and readers can discuss it online through the participant's Goodreads account. Request to join the group "Yay for YA!: An Online Book Club" on Goodreads or email teen librarian Alison Colman at acolman@naperville-lib.org.
A new book is posted on the first day of every month, and participants will have the entire month to read it and discuss.

Wii UT Tournaments (NIC)

Tuesday, Jan. 3: "Super Smash Bros. BrawlT" 
Teen gamers can use the library's Wii U to compete to win bragging rights and a Target gift card. Participants can also bring their DS to play for fun with other gamers during breaks. As time allows, there will be free play after the tournament!

Raspberry Pi Basics (95th)

Learn how to get started using a Raspberry Pi computing system, by setting up the operating system and writing basic Python code to turn on and off an LED. *Program requires advanced registration and is limited to 10 participants.

Wii UT Wednesdays (NBL)

Wednesday, January 04, 2017 at 1:30 PM -- Naper Blvd. Library
Check out the library's Wii U gaming system on the big screen. The library has a variety of new and old games that can be played by up to four players. The regular Wii will be set up and teen participants in 6th through 12th grades are encouraged to bring their own Nintendo 3DS systems to use as extra controllers.

Pi-tay Poppers (95th)

Teen tech lovers can pop a balloon the high-tech way using a Raspberry Pi computer. By creating a balloon popping circuit, teens can learn computer science skills as well as how to wire up a circuit, what transistors are used for and how to heat up a resistor so it will pop a balloon. *Program requires advanced registration and is limited to 10 participants.

Buddy Elf's Holiday Cheer Movie Workshop (NIC)

Friday, January 06, 2017 at 2:00 PM -- Nichols Library
Kick back, relax and enjoy the last few days of winter vacation. Watch the movie "Elf," sip hot chocolate and decorate cookies to munch on during the show. Spend time making crafts, including creating personalized buttons with the library's button maker and using Sharpies to decorate a mug to take home.

Monthly Teen Book Giveaway (95th)

Bookworms can read and share their thoughts on the books they are reading by stopping by the lower level teen services desk for the Teen Book Giveaway. Teens can take home (and keep!) one shiny new book or Advanced Reader's Copy (ARC) each month. All that is asked in return is that participants write a review (the good and the bad) for the book taken and bring the review back to the library within the next month. Reviews will be posted on the teen section of the library's website.

Anime Club (NBL)

Visit the library each month to watch anime, talk about different aspects of Japanese pop culture and meet other otaku!
