The Secret of Marie (NIC)

Former Naperville resident Rebecca Bricker will present her new book, "The Secret of Marie," an art-history mystery set in Giverny, France, where Claude Monet spent the last half of his life. Marie was the favorite model of American Impressionist artist Theodore Robinson (1852-1896), who was mentored by Monet. Marie appeared in a number of Robinson's paintings, but little is known about her, which has perplexed art historians for years. The author will share details of a significant discovery she made in her role as an art-history detective while conducting research for this book. She also will feature vintage and present-day photographs of Giverny and provide tips to those wanting to visit.

Sensory Storytime (NIC)

The whole family is invited to a 30-minute program of books, songs and fun for children with special needs. All abilities are welcome with an adult caregiver. Dupage Children's Museum Programs:Come play with us at the Library(NIC)

DuPage Children's Museum is taking exhibits on the road! The museum's early learning specialist and community access coordinator will provide play facilitation techniques utilizing portable versions of full-sized exhibits. In addition, library staff will demonstrate the power of play through storytimes during this drop-in program, which is limited to 30 attendees. This program is presented in partnership with DuPage Children's Museum.

Stitching in the Stacks (NIC)

This season's pay-it-forward community project is knit, crocheted or fleece-tied mats for shelter dogs and cats. Mats will go to Naperville Area Humane Society and ADOPT Pet Shelter and may accompany pets to their adoptive homes.

Participants should bring their choice of machine washable supplies, and the library will supply patterns. Participants may also bring their own projects to work on with fellow crafters. All skill levels may attend and experienced crafters are welcome to share their expertise and work with staff to help beginners.
