Naperville Reads 2012 Presents: Luis Alberto Urrea

Luis UrreaAs a prolific and multi-faceted author, Luis Alberto Urrea received numerous awards for his work in poetry, novels, and investigative reporting, including a Pulitzer finalist for The Devil's Highway, which tells a brutal border crossing in 2001 that went terribly wrong. His heavily researched historical fiction, The Hummingbird's Daughter depicts the epic story of his great-aunt, Teresa, who rises from death and possesses the power of healing, and eventually flees the turmoil of the Mexican civil war to America. The legend continues in the new world in the sequel, Queen of America. The Hummingbird's Daughter, Into the Beautiful North, and The Devil's Highway have been selected by more than 30 cities and colleges for One Book community read programs.
