Our Mission

The Naperville Public Library supports all residents of Naperville in their lifelong pursuit of learning, enjoyment, and inspiration by providing excellence in public library services, resources, and programs.

Our Vision:

The Naperville Public Library – Naperville’s Neighborhood of Knowledge – is our community’s top stop for equitable access to knowledge and information delivered by professional and welcoming staff in a network of state of the art libraries and in a 24/7 electronic universe. The Library will:

  • Work to increase community use and support, while raising the profile and perceived value of the Library;
  • Actively seek to understand the needs of the community and provide programs, services and materials within realistic parameters;
  • Provide the best staff possible – with a focus on service and accountability;
  • Implement best practices in all operations;
  • Maximize the use of technology in the delivery of library services;
  • Seek continuous improvements;
  • Work to provide the necessary funds to enable the Library to continually meet the demands of the community and to take appropriate initiatives;
  • Plan for capital needs that support the growth and/or consolidation for the Library

Our Board of Library Trustees

 The Board of Library Trustees of the City of Naperville meets the third Wednesday of each month, 7 p.m., in the Board Room of Nichols Library, 200 W. Jefferson Ave. Board meeting agendas and packets of current year are available online.

The Naperville Public Library has adopted administrative policies and procedures regulating the organization and use of library materials, services and facilities.

Our Annual Report

Every library in Illinois is required to submit an annual report to the State by the end of the month following the last day of the fiscal year. You can view a copy of the Illinois Public Library Annual Report (IPLAR) for fiscal year ending April 30, 2011.

Our Operating Budget

Illinois Public Act 097-0609 (5 ILCS 120-7.3) requires that employers participating in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund post compensation information for designated employees as a part of the budget approval process.
