I. PURPOSE Long-distance or online learning programs and some professions provide the opportunities for independent study on the condition that exams be proctored and certified. In support of life- long learning, the Library will provide this service for administering examinations. II. SCOPE Anyone may apply for examination proctoring. Exams are proctored during regular Library hours Monday through Saturday at all three Naperville Public Library facilities. III. PROVISIONS A. Exams are proctored by Adult Services Department staff during regular Library hours Monday through Saturday at all three Naperville Public Library facilities, subject to staff availability. To help recover the cost of coordination, supervision, any necessary photocopying, and recordkeeping, fees will be assessed according to the schedule below. The exam will not be administered until the fee is paid by the person taking the exam. a. Naperville cardholders with valid cards (valid Library cards are not expired and do not have more than $20.00 in fines/fees on account): $30.00 per exam session up to four consecutive hours. b. All others, including Reciprocal Borrowers: $60.00 per exam session up to four consecutive hours. B. It is the patron’s responsibility to contact their agency or institution to provide the appropriate materials and contacts to the proctor. The proctor is not responsible for contacting the learning institution to get exam materials or proctor forms. The proctor will return proctor forms directly to the school whenever asked to do so. C. Proctoring must be scheduled at least one week in advance and is administered by appointment only. D. It is the patron’s responsibility to provide postage, should an exam need to be mailed. The Library is not responsible for receipt of the exam by the learning institution. E. The student must be on time for his/her appointment and is responsible for notifying the proctor 48 hours in advance if he/she cannot make that appointment. F. Library computers will not be modified to accommodate online tests. Installation of any special software needed to take the exam is prohibited. G. Proctors will not remain with the student while s/he is taking the test. Proctors will intermittently monitor students.
