Winter Reading Program

December 13, 2021 - January 30, 2022

Winter is the perfect time to sit in front of a warm fire with a mug of hot cocoa and a tasty book to read. Naperville Public Library invites you to join our Winter Reading Program, “Reading is Sweet!”

    Anyone birth through 5th grade can sign up for the Children’s Winter Reading Program. One sign-up per child.

The Winter Reading Program provides reading incentives to help children maintain and grow their literacy skills throughout the winter months. Participants earn prizes for each reading level they complete, including a free book for completing the entire program. They are also entered into weekly drawings for Chicago Wolves Hockey tickets and finishers are eligible to win their building’s grand prize!

This year’s Winter Reading Program runs from December 13 through January 30 at all three Naperville Public Library locations. Beginning December 13, you can register online through our Beanstack Winter Reading Program platform or sign up in person at any of our locations.

  • Register in person at any Naperville Public Library location or online starting December 13.
  • Pick up a kit containing a reading log and the first and second level prizes after registering.
  • Kits are available for pickup December 13 - January 30.
  • Determine your child’s reading goals. They may decide to read 15 pages a day, 20 minutes a day or even a whole book a day.
  • After reaching their daily goals, mark it on their reading log. There are 30 squares on the log. For every 10 days they complete their reading goal, they earn a prize from the kit.
  • Caregivers are responsible for giving children prizes for completing levels one and two.
  • The final prize is a free book from our selection of prize books. Children must return to the library to receive their book and be entered into the drawing for the grand prize.
